West City Playoffs




West City Darts Association had their club playoffs to select 8 men and 8 ladies to go to the Region 2 playoffs for the Auckland team on 18th April 2010 last night at their club rooms. The top eight men from the playoffs are Ken Moir, Mike Day, Tony Lee , Monty Tuhua, Graham McIlroy, Steve Holt, Dean Webster and Peter Page. The team was selected after a round robin of 701 one leg. 15 men tried out for the team. Ken Moir had the most wins with 12 from 14 games. The ladies team was Peggy Wikaira, Rita Wells, Kristal McDermott, Jo Kinita, Lou Williams, Gail Olliver, Veronica Hazel and Sarah Joseph. 11 ladies played. Peggy had the most wins with 10 from 10.


The next event at West City is the Des Heavey Memorial mixed pairs on Saturday, 3rd April 2010.

Ken and Peggy Win West City Mixed Pairs


Ken Moir and Peggy Wikaira won the West City mixed Pairs title last night at West City's club rooms in Ranui by defeating Steve Holt and Rita Wells in the final 2 - 0. Ken scored a 180 in the final. This was his only 180 of the night. This represented a drop in form on his part as the week before at West City club night he had scored 8 of them. Ken said ' I am a bit off because I catching the flu'.

There were 14 entries and 7 qualifiers. In the semi-final Ken and Peggy defeated Casey Mathews and Loretta Hunter. In the other semi final Steve and Rita defeated Peter Page and Lou Williams.

The next event at West City is this coming Thursday when there are club playoffs for selection for the region playoffs to be held on 18th April 2010.

ADA Ladies 8 West City Ladies 6


The Auckland Darts Association ladies defeated the West City Darts Association ladies 8 to 6 earlier today at the West City club rooms, Glen Road, Ranui in the Auckland Provincial Dart Executive Ladies challenge shield.
The Auckland Darts Association team were Mata Aitoa, Rachael Phillips, Ruth Blackwell, Maila Iaone, Nga Smyth, Tauturu John, Denise Hakeagatoa and Maria Siavale. The West City ladies were Peggy Wikaira, Jo Kinita, Rita Wells, Kristal McDermott, Gail Olliver, Sarah Joseph, Maine Ngameatua and Lou Williams.
After the fours the score was tied 1 all. After the pairs ADA were ahead and the score was 3 to 1. Half way through the singles it was tied again when ADA won three of the last four singles to win. Most games were close with ADA just that bit stronger. ADA had 4 current Auckland region ladies team members and West City two.
The next challenge for ADA will be Counties Manukau.
