Dart Tip: Finding Your Master Eye

In dart theory you throw the dart along the line from your master eye to the target on the board. The dart of course does not travel on a perfect line but a parabolic curve on the same vertical plane as the line to the target from your master eye. To locate your master eye stand at the oche facing the dart board. Extend one arm and point your index finger vertically into the air. With both eyes open line the finger up with the bullseye. Then close your right eye. If the finger is still lined up with the bullseye your master eye is the left. If it is not open both eyes, line the finger up with bullseye and close your left eye. If the finger is still lined up with the bullseye then your right eye is the master eye.
Most right handed throwers will have a right eye which is the master eye. Most left handed throwers will have a left eye which is the master eye. There are exceptions of course. The most famous one is Phil Taylor who is right handed but throws from the left eye.
