WEST CITY DARTS CLUB CHAMPS

The following dates have been set for our club championships.

Thursday 22nd August, 2013 -Mixed Pairs
Thursday 5th September, 2013 - The ASHES
Sunday 13th October, 2013 - Men's and Ladies singles; Men's and Ladies Pairs

You must be a fully paid up member of West City Darts Association to compete in these championships.

If you wish to become a member please pay you subs at the club on any Thursday prior to championships starting.

West City retain Renee Stacey Shield


West City Mens representative team defeated Auckland Combined RSA representative team 11-3 to retain the Renee Stacey Shield yesterday.
Combined RSA fielded a strong team and the games were very competitive;  a lot closer than the score indicated.
There were 5 Auckland Region 2 players (WestCity 4; RSA 1) competing in this game and all looked in good form which bodes well for the National championships starting next week.
For the RSA team Trevor McFarlane was their player of the day.
It was difficult to single out a player of the day for West City as all players were in good form; however Tony Lee stood out in his singles game, winning the first leg in 14 darts and breaking with a 170 in his second leg.
The teams were:  West City; Monty Tuhua, Geoff Koster, Tony Lee, Ken Moir, Mike Day, Peter Page, Jeff Harold and Blair Hutchison.
RSA team were Troy Henderson, Issac Lewis, Frank Speight, Tom Williams, Deon Toki, Greg West, Trevor McFarlane and Ollie.

West City retain Ladies Challenge Shield

West City Ladies representative team defeated Counties Manukau representative Team 10 – 4 to retain the Ladies Challenge Shield yesterday.
The games were of a high standard and were a lot closer than the score indicated.
There were 3 Auckland Region 2 players (WestCity 1; Counties Manukau 2) competing in this game and all were in good form, which augurs well for the NZ championships starting next week.
Maxine Taaka was Counties Manukau player of the day.
West City Ladies is a formidable team, all players playing well with perhaps Stacey Heavey the standout hitting a 158 finish and a 161.
The teams were Peggy Wikaira (Capt), Olivia Curreen, Colleen Curreen, Stacey Heavey, Loretta Hunter, Jeanette Scott and Lou Williams.
Counties Manukau team was Malia Ioane, Rachel Phillips, Maxine Taaka, Rosa Broad, Honey Patu, Judy Brown, Jocelyn Ioana and Jackie Farr.

Rene Stacey and Ladies Challenge this Sunday 28th July

West City Darts will be defending the Rene Stacey shield this Sunday against Auckland Districts RSA Men's team and will also be defending the Ladies Challenge against Counties Manukau.
Games commence at 2.00pm.

The Mens team will be:
Tony Lee, Ken Moir, Monty Tuhua, Mike Day, Jeff Harold, Geoff Koster, Blair Hutchison, Peter Page and Dave Curreen. (one to be omitted)  
The Ladies Team remains the same that defended the Ladies Challenge in June.

All are welcome to come along and see some good darts games played.
Refreshments will be available.

Results from clubnight, Thursday 25/7/13

Monty Tuhua defeated Mike Day in the final of  West City Darts Association clubnight.
In the semi finals Monty defeated Olivia Curreen and Mike defeated Troy Henderson.
33 players competed in the qualifying round with 19 going through to the knockout round.

There were a number of high quality games played during the knockout stage with Nathan Holt's quarterfinal game one of the highlights. Nathan, a youth player, again showed why he is rated so highly as he continues to develop into a good dart player.
11  x  180's were hit.

This blog is now defunct. Thanks very much for all the support from readers and the information that used to come in on various darts events and happenings but for various reasons but mainly time I have available the blog will not be continuing.
